Good morning church, thank you again for praying for me. I’ve been encouraged by how many people have been consistently praying and know that God has been glorified by how many people have spent time with Him for me.

I just finished a week of appointments at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio with my parents. The final verdict is that I have Stage 4 Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma which has spread from my bicep to my lungs but nowhere else. It’s a rare form of sarcoma that doesn’t respond to chemotherapy and doesn’t have a traditional cure available, so their treatment plan consists of radiation of my bicep for 5-weeks, surgical removal of the majority of my bicep, a potential bicep reconstruction later down the road, and a drug to hopefully slow the spread. The AF is sending me to MD Anderson in Houston for a second opinion which is the top clinic for this type of cancer.

While the cancer is rare and therefore hasn’t had enough research behind it to have a conventional cure, it’s slow growing and I know that God can remove it at any point. I have hope that some alternative medicine approaches may work and am going to be talking to a doctor in Switzerland who specializes in alternative medicine for cancer. The AF wants to move me to San Antonio so I can be assigned to a unit out there and keep working while I do treatment.

There have been ups and downs this week, but I have overall been encouraged. This cancer is likely going to be with me for a while as I live a fairly normal life. I am very grateful to be symptom free and this verse has been both encouraging and clarifying for me “Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful creator while doing good.” – 1 Peter 4:19

Please continue to pray that it would be healed, I would find the right combination of treatments (conventional or non-conventional), I would be able to start working soon, and that I would get plugged-in to a good church in San Antonio.
